Ok my WD800UE crapped out on me so like a jack ass I through it in my home made clean room and opened it up but for some reason that eludes me at the moment and removed the top platter of the two.

I just found out about the servo thing and was wandering if the pc3000 and data extractor could read the data from the drive now that the top platter has been moved. I know the pc3000 is expensive but I'm one of those people that looks for an excuse to blow money on a new toy.

Thanks

-Ron

No, once that platter was removed any chance of getting your data vanished.

No servo needed.
just realign the platters.
Sorry I can tell you more, my company would not like that.

I did it one time, but I used a marker to mark a notch on the top platter and the bottom platter. Seems difficult to do without knowing the alignment.

If platters is misaligned it is impossible to restore it back to its orignal position .
