Dears,

I have a big problem with ST9120822AS. I suspect head problem, because it is knocking.
Terminal says:
VENUS - 1_Disk M-37 12-01-06_14:56
Buzz HM FREG701 88
HM FREG701 88
....

Unfortunately it has very rare FW: 3.CLF. I looked for it almost everywhere but no results.
So I decided to swap head from the same model but different FW: 3.ACL. The drive does not knock now but it can not be detected and terminal says now:
Buzz HM SFI
!
$($06DA7,00E74,0000,00,19,70,71)REG701 91
HM SFI
!
$($1338D,00E74,0000,00,8B,30,08)

I suspect that firmware incompatibility is the problem.

Could you advise me what can I do now? Do you have any idea how to overcome this problem?
I consider to re-solder ROM chip but I am not sure.

Thank you very much for any help.

Regards,
Rafael

Prodata,

the disk is from Lenovo notebook, so it has standard Windows OS.
Does my chance grow up?

Rafael
