To my fellow data recovery professionals and forensic practicioners.

Recently I have been to India where I recieved training from H.D.R.C in the use of their Data Recovery Tools – http://www.hdrconline.com

I wanted to share with you all some useful tools provided by H.D.R.C I have made some short videos and uploaded them to youtube so you can view them in your own time. H.D.R.C platter exchange tool is very useful for the Seagate hard drives with multiple platters and the physical partitions / heat deflectors and I heard some people refer to them as installed by Seagate to make data recovery less possible by data recovery companies. Well this tool removes up to 3 platters with ease and minimum effort. In my short 3- part video series I have been filmed using HDRC Platter Exchanger, Magnet Extractor and Read /Write Head tool. If you want to know more you can view my videos at http://www.youtube.com/droiditltd I chose not to upload the videos here so I wasn't seen to be spamming the forum :)

You will notice that the work was not carried out in a clean room. I just set up on a desk outside of the clean room for demonstration purposes only. The tools are low cost, great value and will help speed up some our day to day tasks. The recovery rate can be increased as the tools leave little room for human error. The platter exchange tool is simple to use and protects the platters, it makes life very simple for examining the platters too. HDRC provide tools for 3.5” drives as well as 2.5” drives.

I had great fun being trained to use these tools, the staff at http://www.hdrconline.com are very friendly, they are more than willing to share their knowledge and answer any questions quickly and efficiently. Mr Gaurav Sinha and his team of staff are very friendly, professional and courteous. If you have any questions regarding this company or their tools I am more than willing to answer them just PM or email me eddie.lewis@droid.it

I may not get around to replying to many people until mid may as I am away on vacation but will answer you as soon as I can.

Many thanks
From Eddie Lewis

Interesting - How much did this course cost and was it located in India or in the UK? I see they are an Indian company but with a UK office too.

I wonder, why would you want to help increase recovery rate of your competitors?
You must be very altruistic person :)

I recall a post on this company several weeks ago but nobody took it seriously because the site lacked any pictures of its products. It looked like a scam to get peoples money. What did the course cost? Why did you travel all the way to India for it? I really like the platter removal tool for hard drives with plastic/metal dividers. For $400 dollars that's a good buy. What good would the head removal tool be if it scratches the surface to get the heads over to the edge? Ideally it would only work for drives that parked on a ramp. There's too much risk in damaging the SA from the way you showed in the video. The magnet tool is great but $720 for laptop and desktop plus shipping to the US is truly a scam. They should call up the Guinness book of records for the highest priced magnet ever. You can purchase a powerful magnet on EBay or get it free from SalvationData with their platter tool. 8)

HDRC is a company located in India and they have previously been working for around 15 years in Data Recovery, developing software and hardware for the industry. The products were marketed and sold in India. Now they are expanding rapidly they are willing to offer these products which have been developed, designed and produced by HDRC.
This is no scam. You ask why I travelled all the way to India for the course, the answer to that is simple I had previously contacted G-Cubic in Manchester, they did not return my calls or emails. I saw this course was available, low cost and decided to go for it.
The platter removal tool is my favourite it works very well on hard drives I have previously found almost or totally impossible. In my video I was demonstarting the tools only to share with the world what I have found in India. The head removal tool was not one of the best examples as due to trade secrets etc I did not show the full and proper technique of using this tool. I was simply showing the heads being removed and placed back. There is a nifty technique to go with this tool and the heads and platter suffer no damage. Yes it works for heads parked on the ramp and those on the platter and the SA is not damaged. The magnet exchanger is now the same for 2.5in and 3.5 in drives so you would only need to order one. If you can find them cheaper that work as well as this does then thats your choice. Fortunately for me this one works very well and it is my toolof choice. :) HDRC are still finalising some details on their products and prices are their as a guide. Just be glad they reduced their shipping charges. I am not going to comment on other magnet exchanger as this is the only one I will be using or requiring.

While I'm always happy to find a new source of tools, I have a few concerns. First, a seemingly-unconnected customer is making youtube videos and statements as if he was the head of sales. If you're getting some money for this, good for you, but tell us. Second, I don't know how well the tools work in the real world, and I can't even guess, as there are no good pictures of them. (If I wanted to steal your idea, I'd simply buy one, and make a million duplicates. The only thing I can do with a picture is decide whether to buy). Third, I can't tell if the platter exchanger will work any better than Salvation's. Will it really work with the new Seagates? Samsung? Any drive with a spacer? Since the tool has an inconvienent shell that goes around the drive, keeping you from rotating it, will it's 'fingers' (If it has them) line up perfectly around the location of any spacer, including future spacers?

rchadwick hi
If you give me a tool I find useful I would make videos for you too with your permission. I thought it was a good idea to show this device being used on a 300GB Seagate drive as I've had so many questions in the past about them. I have also seen people ask on forums about the Seagate drives with spacers / heat shields or whatever you prefer to call them :)
I assure you I am not getting paid for these videos. I am however working with the Director of HDRC on another project as well as being an employee of DROID.IT LTD.
The platter exchanger does work with all current drives including seagate, samsung, hitachi etc etc... I refuse to say a product is better than something else, I will tell you that this tool has other features more beneficial than the other products on the market.
1. Dust cannot get to the platters while they are in the platter exchanger.
2. There is no way to damage the platters with a screwdriver or screws.

If hard drive manufacturers decide to make static platters that do not rotate then it is possible this tool may encounter problems. While the platters spin then there will always be room in my eyes for this tool to extract the platters.
This tool manages to keep the platters from spinning and prevents platter misalignment while in use I dont see why you need to rotate the tool. :)

I want to remind everyone about recent spamming from "hdrconline" (just search this forum for "hdrconline"). Just keep that in mind.

well, Altruistic person. yes, he is. Incredible? but I prefer to think that he is partner of the indian company. It sounds more reasonable.

If one person is pure altrustic, I don't think he is human being but a divince.

supposing that work is rewardless, what we expect to get from life?

Best Regards,

Laura

I admit I did use a so-called powerful language translator . I just want to see how it worked.

Thank you!
