How to make compatible PCB swap on IBM

May 15th, 2008, 7:24

Dear : All

The dead PCB :
IBM Travelstar; model : IC25N020ATCS04-0; P/N : 07N9317; MLC : H32687;
07N9084
H32624_

LdA218
LN3C

The Good PCB :
IBM Travelstar; model : IC25n030ATCS04-0; P/N : 07N8363; MLC : H32687;
07N9085
H32625_

LdA220
CGXF

I have swap PCB but not success; I suppose the blue text is different; It is right ?
Can I swap NVRAM (IBM36 AMSRC04 GE TQA7B0.6C ) from dead PCB to good PCB to make compatible ?

Thanks

Hi,

You should have the first two lines match exactly.
(I assume its IBM Hitachi disk)

Hi,

in this family there is no separate ROM ic and it neither uses NVRAM as well.
the IC u mentioned is the reading/prml channel, it has nothing to do with compatibility.
It was quite a while ago I needed to PCB-swap one of these, but as far as I remember there was nothing special about it and I could use a board from a different sized donor drive, provided the FW version was the same.
Correct me if I am wrong, pls!
