Hello,

I have a Western Digital WD2500JB external HDD. My PC cannot detect it.
- The jumper setting is set on Master Drive (i.e. no jumper).
- The light on the enclosure is green, does not blink, shows no activity.
- Checked it in the Disk Management as well but it shows only original C:/ and D:/ .
- Tried connecting it on other PCs but it won't connect.

However, I can hear the HDD turning on but after about 10 sec, i hear 3 weired tapping/clicking sounds in a row and then nothing.

Can anyone please help me :?: :?

Sounds like a bad drive, but the first thing I'd do is take the drive out of the enclosure, and install it internally to your computer.

Unfortunately, You'll need tools, even just to do a basic check. If your car is broken, it's likely you won't get it running with just a nail file and a hammer. You can't build a house with a screwdriver and krazy glue (Well, not one I'd live in). If the data is important, you could take it to a pro. If you want to do it yourself, you might just find you spend even more, and still don't have your data.

BTW, if your data isn't important, just buy a new drive.
