WD5000AAKS-40TMA0 problem, need help

July 10th, 2008, 11:27

Dears,

I have WD5000AAKS-40TMA0 drive with the following problem.
After power on, it starts to spin platters, and after it, it knocks about 10 times.
Then the platters are stopped. PC3000 detects it with all empty fields (model, firmware etc).
Registers DRD and DSC are on.
I am wondering what causes the problem: PCB, HEADS, ROM?

I would be very appreciated for any help.

Regards,
Rafal
