Hi everyone,

I bought a used Maxtor-Doctor a few month ago witch I never use. Now I'm trying to fix a 6E040L0 detect as a N40P. I'm use to do this kind of operation with PC3K ISA perhaps I couldn't find the way to start the drive from a boot file in a manner that I can get access to the firmware.

I have a 100% identical drive witch I used to extract the modules and create boot file.

Doe's anyone as a procedure to follow or a tutorial about getting the drive in a ready mode so I can fix the firmware. Salvation changed their website and I couldn't find any tutorial anymore :( ...

Any Help will be appreciate.

Regards

Craig6928,

I haven't really use it yet but up to now this product seems all feature we need to repair the Hard drives. I contact Laura to see if she has a tutorial or procedure as soon as I get use to this tool I'll let you know.

By the way:
I was really surprised by the PDE (Power data extractor) The interface is a bit shitty function are limited time estimation work really badly but I successfully Image a drive with a bad spindle witch make HDD Duplicator crash and PC3K to always hard reset the drive.

I also got the HPE witch is a great tool to have I made a few 2.5" Platter swap without any corruption.

I also need to test the seagate doctor witch I haven't plug yet ...

Anyway I let you know about those product.

I took some time to answer on this one I was in vacation last 2 weeks. I finally contact the support team they help me out even if I bought a used product other companies would probably not... Witch is awesome! I Successfully fix a Maxtor N40P Problem with ease compare to PC3K ISA. Once you understand the logic behind the interface this program is Great !!!

I'll let you know about Seagate doctor as soon as I use it.

Don't take me wrong I think this program is very good overall since it did what other's couldn't!!

BTW Salvation develop a new imaging tools (Data Compass) witch seems Great I will probably buy it in a near future and let you know how this tool works.

Why not study the structure of drive families before attempting?

BlackST,

I already study drive strctures I've been using PC3K for 4 years and I've been train by ace at the moment and I made thousands of successful recovery and. As I mention in an other post I bought Salvation by curiosity and to learn new tools. I couldn't get the drive in a mode witch I can work with the SA (Same as loading LDR) because I didn't know the procedure.

BTW: Is this kind of bitchy question's positive for the topic ??? You should consider using this forum to help other people when they ask some question instead of telling what they should have done after ... My last answer was to help craig6928 since he ask me a feedback from HD Doctor.

Regards

I have got a method to let the n40p get ready:
when you load the ldr file, let the HDA connector off but keep the motor connector well connected, wait until the pc3k prompted error msg, then press down the HDA connector, you will heard some noise from the disk but it will be get ready soon, now you can do FW operation!
