Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Good afternoon gurus,
I know this is an impossible question. I cannot find this drive and understand that it is discontinued.
Any ideas why? Other than the drive fails?
Do I any other options?
Thank you
Peter

Not much to go on in your message (no parts #'s or anything).
Drive manufacturers always replace old models with newer ones.
If you need parts, you need to find a compatible drive on eBay or one of the outfits that caters to D/R businesses.
I see you're in Wisconsin. I'm in Milwaukee and have some Samsung parts. What have you got?

Everything is fine... but which model ?!? I still have in stock 1,2 / 1,6 / 3,2 GB like WG, SV, etc. And what's the problem ?

Gurus,
I have looked for a match on ebay and google. The model is not available on ebay and the companies that have item in stock online, do not physically have it in inventory.
I have an SP1624N Samsung 160gb P/V is FS. S/N SOBGJ10L208943, P/N 1489J1FL228206, P80A, E-HO11-05-2972 (B), 2006.02. Thats all the info on the label.
There is no side label.
PCB- 60105AD, P/V80, 2D, R2, JVC, PDPEA293E32387 (under bar code on PCB).
Drive clicks then spins down.
PC3k, drive does not ID.
Thanks all!

It's very common drive. The problem could be everything- rom, pcb, heads, m/c... Can you post terminal log?

PC3k powers up drive, goes from busy to DRD but not DSC. Screen shows head readiness time out. Drive does not ID.
cgallery-I want to test PCB and if possible get a drive where heads match. Just cant seem to find donors.

You need pcb and same rom code, or you have to dump rom for checking. I am not in your area, sadly... I have probably everything to repair the drive and/or write rom.

Thanks BlackST, wanna move here until I get data recovered? Of course you would have to bring your tools and inventory.

LOL... Maybe for a vacation... I think border police won't allow a suitcase with programmer, cables, tools and other DR "paraphernalia"

No kidding.
Thanks again

Oh, you can come in. You just have to leave everything on your way out.
