I have searched on here and found that many people are have problems using FASTERASE as the application requires a password but there is no password set and noone knows what the password is?

I have tried the following solutions found in search but none do work:

1. set password in BIOS and use that password for FASTERASE = FAIL!

2. type LOCK command to create password = FAIL! command does not exist!

3. type PWD command to create password = FAIL!

Is anyone able to get FASTERASE to work and if so how? Can you please explain?

Much appreciation!!!

Note: some seagate drives do not work with fasterase. In particular the factory repaired ones. Bios pwd doesn't count. Finally check your version and cmds (help)

Hi, thank you for your quick reply at this late hour! I am using a Maxtor 6v200e0 hard drive. Is Maxtor another brand which this software does not support?

The version of MHDD32 I am using is the latest download as of today which is v4.6. I searched the HELP and it only show PWD as the command to change password but that command seems not to function properly?

Everytime I try it, it returns FAIL! message?

Do you have security support OFF on your drive by a chance?

Is that a feature of the BIOS or of this application? If it is a feature of this application, then the security support feature is likely to be set to whatever the default value since I am a new user trying to find utility in this application.
