Has anybody successfully swapped the head assembly of a 4k040h2 drive? I swapped some but nether worked, they were slowly sweeping at the outer part of the disks, but never set ready. when I put back the good head assembly into it's place, that HDD worked fine again.
I swapped head assembly in the 2k020h1, and it worked too.
Is it some alignment problem? Has anyone solved it?

Thanx!

Why do You think it is bad? It worked with it's original head assembly.

Hello,

Before the head swapping the HDD had the typical spin up(normal), 3 knocks, spin up(some higher rpm),spin down, 4 knocks. As if head 0 would be defective.
After the swap, this sound wasn't heard, drive found something, but had not calibrated.
It was the same with 2 or 3 drives. That's why I think the head was defective.
After this I put the good head assembly back to the working drive and it worked OK.
My question was that if anybody experienced this could he solve the problem, and how.
