Maxtor N40P

No access to Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8.

Detects in Bios as Maxtor N40P.

Get error when booting "Secondary Master Hard Drive Error" Press F1 to continue.

Definitely firmware issue, confirmed with Maxtor.

Can I just replace the board? Will another board from same spec hd work?

If I need to write internal firmware, what is the best way to go about doing this?

Code: NAR61EA0
SN#: 6E040L0711005

Thank you in advance for your help.

It's firmware disorder. Replace the PCB borad is useless. If you have pc3000 or hrt, maybe it can be repaired.
