Anyone know how to use the PC3000 to hide defects found in Seagate drives, using the PC3000?

I tried:

1) Save defect list after scanning
2) Convert defects to PCHS
3) Add defects to P-List

But still the same bad sectors show up after they have been "mapped out."

This isn't data recovery, but I'm interested in how it is done.

Have you turned off then on the drive after remapping ?

IIRC, yes I did power cycle the drive. Do I also need to enter something like CTRL-C?

On two of the drives I played with, I received an error message that there were too many defects per track.

On the other PC3000 utilities, you can hide the entire cylinder if there are too many defects. Not so with Seagate, AFAIK.

I think when the defects are too many - per track or globally - the surface or head(s) are worn. Maybe selfscan? Did some other test? Results?

Have you tryed a full erase after adding to plist?

Hi Scan Remap ,power cycle ,full erase then again check
last try selfscan works like a charm
