Fake Memory Stick Duo

I have recieved a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo which seems to be a fake as total capacity is only 1GB, but controller is damaged and card is not accessible. I have done a little researching, and seems like it is a 1GB capacity physically, but externally says 4GB.

NAND Signiture is HY27UT088G2M
Controller Signiture is only partially visible, I think it is 0853-G

There is a single NAND chip, with multi stack structure of 4 stacks of 1024MB. I have not yet been able to identify any of the configuration settings, but as total physical capacity is only 1GB, and there is stack structure totalling 4GB, how can I successfully get correct algorythm and settings?

I've seen a few of these fake cards, and are rarely recoverable.

Once the controller has filled up the "real" 1gb, it tries to continue but actually starts writing at the beginning again, think it's continuing. So data is overwritten.

Have you dumped the nand chip? Do you pick up headers and partial pictures in a raw recovery?

Maybe you should clean the pins on chip? Or could you attach pictures from PC3K with chips here? I can't understand your situation...

The problem is that the chip is 1GB in size, but is identified as 4GB.

I think I will give up on this one....

Do all these fake devices originate from China? Or is there also other locations they come from?

I have not seen any fake cards or sticks from anywhere except china.

This is normal situation because in China there is a lot of facilities and people who ready to work hard for a low salaries. And the most popular brands are produce their products in China. I know that sometime ago they produced fakes for Apple products on the official factories, after midnight.
China is a very big country with big population and a lack of work. That's why people there have ability to make a lot of cheap fakes. The formula is very easy:
Chinese people+couple bucks per day+silicium+plastic+equipment= big number of different fakes.
