Resolder tower stacked TSOPs

January 22nd, 2010, 18:39

Hello boys and girls! Any clue how to resolder stacked flash chips that have a thin pcb in between the pins? I need to put them back together, and back on the board. I put the first chip on the board, then blasted the chip with hot air and set the pcb on top with a tweezers, but the pcb spacer does not sit on the pins very well. I have a ton of these to resolder! YIKES! Any guesses?

Thanks!

I have seen stacked ICs many times, but there never was any PCB in between.
Could you post pics?

Here is an example. I have already pulled the chips apart on the one that I have. Proving to be quite difficult! I would normally bend the pins over on solder them directly to the bottom chip, but that won't fly with this customer.

What device are these chips from?

These chips are from an SSD. The photo is not of the device, just an example I found. Exact same setup though.
