Sorry, but I don't have much more in the way of detail. One of my clients called to say his wife's Sharp electronic organizer gives the cited message and asks if she wants to format the device (or words to that effect). She doesn't have any backups and doesn't want to overwrite her data, in case some of it is recoverable. I indicated there is virtually no chance of recovering it, but would inquire. The unit uses volatile RAM and has a port for data sharing between similar devices and with a PC. I have no idea if he has the USB cable and/or if backup software is required to access the memory or whether it just shows up as a removable device. I thought perhaps someone on the forum has been asked the question before and might have a quick answer. I'm not optimistic.

It is possible to do something, but I need physical access to the device and some data may be already lost.

Yes agree with BlackST this one is possible but not by you. They will need a person who deals in this and that is a DR company and they could handle this one. If you want send it off to Italy and I know BlackST can do this one for you with no problems at all. But sorry on this one there is no solution for you alone on this.

Okay, thanks for the helpful and prompt replies. I'll advise my client to try a local DR company, of whom we have several. Deepspar is located here, amongst others, but I doubt it's something they would be interested in. One of the others will, hopefully.

Cheers

DR is mostly related to hard drives and solid state devices like usb sticks, these are pda/organizers whose data recovery falls more in the forensics field. I do well know these devices in any case, hence my answer !

Thanks for clarifying that, BlackST. I'll try not to get my client's hope up too much, but maybe one of the DR people locally will know of someone in Ottawa who also knows such devices. I don't think it's feasible to ship it to Italy for recovery, but thanks again for your helpfulness.

There is someone out of Florida in the US who does forensic work who might be able to help you out on this one if you are willing to send it to him. You can try and contact quasimodo by PM here on the forum and discuess this one with him.
