How many flash chips are in a 32GByte SD card?

My understanding is that the largest flash chips available are 256Mbit (32MByte). To build a 32GByte sd card would require 1000 32MByte flash chips. I must be missing somwthing.....no way there are 1000 flash chips in that little package

Can someone set me straight?
