Converting 64GB Transcend Flash drive to LOWER Capacity

November 5th, 2013, 19:46

Friends,

Recently, mistakenly I purchased some Nicely packed Transcend flash drive of 64GB, which by all means is a 8GB Transcend Flash drive(color code wise) and i was fooled by some trader.

Now my problem is if i can convert them back to 8 Gb i can use them, otherwise all of them are useless.

Flash drive bosses are requested to enlighten me in this aspect please.

Hi,
what you need to do is download the utility that configures the controller and edit the configuration, then write it back to the controller.
You need to find an "MPTool" (Mass Production Tool) or whatever your controller utility is.

The documentation is notoriously poor for this.
The Utilities are known to be targets for malware people to infect and there are other challenges.

If possible, I would like to see:

A good photo of both sides of your device.
A good photo of both sides of the PCB (the inside circuit board, you will have to open it if you can).
A report from USBDeview from Nirsoft would also be interesting.

websites that have the tools include http://www.usbdev.ru and http://flashboot.ru

cheers

Haque sir, thank you very much for such a prompt reply.

Though I have some knowledge in HDD, i am very novice to these electronics.

But i hope that with the help of people like you i shall be able to master it. for the time being let me understand what you have written as I am new to flash, i shall revert back within a day or two all your suggestions.
