Hi m8:s!
I have the FE tool, not updated it for a long while. Starting to get many flash jobs and wondering which tool support most controllers, best support and best future for the tool? I also have the Flash Doctor, this is a joke, a dustcollector

I want ask people who uses both FE and PC3K flash.
Which of them two gave you best success rate lately? Past i know it is FE and maybe for sure still is

?
(you can PM me the answer if you dont want to put out your success rate here in the in the forum, i understand that both equipment is good and talking good vs bad about these great products maybe is not want you want to do here, and i totally understand).
Reason is if i should buy a new license for FE or buy the PC3K flash instead. Maybe i will buy both, I know both is best but if you had to choose?? Need some input from users who are used to work with BOTH these equipment!
Thx for listening m8:s

I have all three, if you want to count the Flash Doctor. It, too, is a dust collector and conversation piece. Between FE and PC3K Flash, I have to say that PC3K Flash appears to have a brighter future and a better support model. I also have let my SC license go past, as I only find that it is sometimes better at getting a clean dump than the older PC3K reader I've had. Hopefully my new reader, expected to arrive in the next week or two will resolve that.

Both are good. You should buy both.

There was implemented one important feature in PC3K flash - Read-Retry function used by some controllers for some chips made by "modern technology". And many other flexible features, it's hard to describe if you didn't work with flashes "every day"
And now PC3K can work with it as FE can't. Because Sergey made two different programs - one to read and one to recover but it looks like that they must be integrated together.
And really hard to understand - what for to pay every year about if you can buy PC3K once and got the same support now...
I see there more and more marketing stuff instead of technician...

In what way?

Well I see some fancy flash recovery pages promising the world from ACE and SD, seems the web developers are the hardest working bunch. Ace does look like it is developing their recovery tools quickly enough, but I am not a customer, so it is just what I see on their site and through assumptions by forum posts. SD team should be in jail for what is written on the website, and what is sold to customers and the result it gives.
SC on the other hand Looks like solely Dev, with the same website for quite a time, and daily updates. Sergey must be one of the few in the world to know what he is doing. I dont see a lot of marketing there.. yes the key must be current for support, but thats the contract. You know where you stand, it is binary. Key, support on, no key, support off.
Alot of times it is not the tools that are hindering recovery, as proved where uploading dumps and sergeys next post is "here you go". solved. It is documentation, skill\time\experience\persistence of the technician. yes, this stuff is HARD.
I would a)update my FE Key, then buy the PC3k latest version if the funds are there.

Mentioned about marketing, for me SC forum now used like topics with recovered data with (+) for future customers. And (+) can tell nothing was data recovered well or no really.
There are a lot of problems with DDR and WL chips now reading it with SC reader. And delay with reply on forum... And other stuff... No development here

since I quit from Soft-Center

But anyway I use it....

This is not claims - of course I advice it but be ready for some issues...

Isn't everyone having issues with DDR & WL chips though?
I think it is going to be extremely hard to tell which supports better unless someone does a comparison of a heap of devices..

But I don't have a PC3K yet and not likely in next few months.

Can I import nand dump from Wellon VP-996 to PC3K or FE?
February 14th, 2014, 18:17
Yes, but i'm almost sure that it will be doesn't work good.
February 14th, 2014, 20:17
Yes, there are differences in NAND flash used for firmware and are mainly 2Gb or less and NAND used for Flash Memory storage.
I think it is to do with SLC MLC and TLC technology.
Also there are some chips around with specs that are titles like "WL" Differences in signal handling, 8/16 bit, power modifications required etc etc

Well, i can say that support form SC is great. It is an awesome tool but its difficult to learn. If you master it its very powerful.
Also, if you have at least 5-10 jobs per year (depending what you charge for each case) you can easily get the money for the license back ´+ earnings for yourself. More jobs more money to you.
So the cost for the license has been well worth it for me.
But again like Haque says: Key, support on. No key, support off.. i like it this way

and Sergey and his teams work is well worth the money for having an active yearly license!
