Recovery from CF Card?

I have just realised I took photos on my camera about a year ago, i've tried to recover the images from my CF card using recovery software but its only finding files up to June last year, then 5 images from the few days im trying to recover.

Can anyone suggest what I can do to get them back?

I would clone your card, sector by sector, and then perform a raw search. For example, if your JPEGs contain embedded text information such as a date/time stamp, then you could search for this text.

Whats the best way of doing this? Never done it before so quite the newbie.

You could use the following tool to create an image of your CF card:

Then use a hex editor (eg HxD) to view one of the recovered files. Look for date/time stamps near the beginning of the file. Then you could use HxD, or the tool of your choice, to search the image file for an appropriate date/time stamp.
