Sandisk U100 256GB Asus factory password?

October 16th, 2014, 9:23

Hello,

I have here a Sandisk SSD U100 256GB coming from an Asus Notebook. The SSD is the same as the one in this pic:

To read it, I bought a SATA III to Asus Zenbook SSD adapter. The SSD seems to work, it goes DRD DSC in PC3000 SSD, reads ID correctly, but I can't access any LBA.

AceLab told me that this SDD has a factory password, so it can be read only when inserted into notebook, and it can't be used outside the Asus.

Is this true? Is there a way to recover it without the Asus notebook?

Thanks,
Simone

As far as I know it is True.. Asus, IBM , Lenovo are among many others that are now enabling ATA lock via a subsystem in the Bios.

The ATA password is a Hash of unique DMI information, so the Key is different for every drive.

Some model HDD`s can have the lock cleared... As for SSD`s ...who knows.. The tech commands are totally new..
