Olympus Voice Recorder DS-330 - Deleted Files

This voice recorder has deleted files the client wants back. I cannot get the device to be recognized on any system to scan it. I can see the device through the Olympus software and have installed drivers, but it still cannot be seen. I have tried XP, W7 W8, OSX and Linux. This should be a pretty simple job, but proving to be more complex.
