Will HDDSCAN execute properly with Storage Spaces "on"?

sorry to post such a mundane issue as newbie here but I cannot find this answer anywhere. Simply trying to get a good run of HDDSCAN on a Evo 850 boot drive, on a system with Microsoft Storage Spaces setup for two tertiary 1TB WD HDD's in a pool. the SSD is not in a pool, but HDDSCAN reports it as being IN the pool, and generates nothing but bad blocks. All blocks bad
Advise?
