Is possible to recover data from Samsung SSD Evo 860?

November 26th, 2023, 11:58

hi, my Samsung SSD Evo 860 often not detected in bios. But some times bios sees ssd with true capacity. It's happened after sleep. The system was frozen and i turn off the powert. Any Windows can not boot with this SSD even if OS on the other disk. Also even if i try to boot from Windows rescue disk. Any Linux wrote message like this: ata1.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x40) But system system has booted. Although lsblk doesn't detect SSD.

What i can do?

It is possible but I think nothing can be done without proper knowledge and tools.
I would recomend you to search for a local UA dr shop.

Thanks, I was looking for my local DR place. On their website they claim that they can restore data only if disk without encryption. But Evo 860 includes an AES 256-bit hardware-based encryption. So i think maybe i can find another solution. First i would like to understand Is this a hardware problem or for example firmware crash. So i try to check for a short. But not found any damage. Chips are cold. So It looks like there is no power coming in. I try check the fuse but it's very small. Now i waiting for some tools

Do you have a Multi-meter? If so, you could take some good photos of the board and maybe someone could direct you on where to test voltages. One of the cheap magnifying glasses on eBay is really helpful, search for "10X Magnifier Light Magnifying Lamp Desk Table Glass Salon Tattoo Light Dimming" for example. low magnify microscope is good too.

Of course. Here are the photos. I found in this forum about correct values of Evo 860. I forgot to say that any Windows not boot with error on blue screen : pnp watchdog error. I would be grateful for any information on way to solve this problem

So far I haven't found any problems there. There's a little bit of fixative because i try to connect the fuse. This is a fixative for pretreatment. I didn't do very well because the fuse is too small.

You need 5v on both sides of the efuse. If you have that then measure the outputs of the pmic at the inductors the other side of the pcb
