WD Green 240Gb SATA MCU issue

January 5th, 2025, 5:52

SANDISK MCU A101-000125-B0 of WD SSD (WD240G3G0A-00BJG0 -2YBSA1 is getting heavily heated up.
I have given it for professional repair shop but they say it cannot get removed due to glue.
Is there anyway to recover data from this SSD.

If NAND isn't dead yet there is a chance. It needs to be checked if there's no other shortage that causes the heat. Glue can be cut and controller removed. Last resort would be NAND transfer to identical PCB.

Thanks melvin
I will give it a try , where is this SSD specific FW & encryption information stored , Is MCU has role to decide only wear levelling ?

Hi
Transplanting Nand will not solve this issue as MCU encryption is there. If MCU cannot be removed then what will be alternate. What Guru's like Arvika would have done ?

Doubt it, but you can always check with a donor. Also checking PCB should be done again. We still don't know for shure if it's MCU's fault or any other component is shorted.

I made many test with this model, so far not found good solution, but I do not give up.

Thanks , Yes MCU might not be short , supporting components might be faulty .

Oh Thanks , Its tough case indeed. Glue on MCU might prevent chip reading .

If Arvika Says its so difficult then possibly no one in the world including ace might be able to recover data from this SSD.
