We've got an inquiry for a data recovery on this laptop, which if I understand correctly, contains flash-chips soldered directly on the main board. We have very little experience with Apple products, and at this time we don't know what kind of controller / NAND are used here, so I'm scouting for viable options to help the customer.
Has anyone managed to DR from this laptop? Are the contents encrypted (i.e. it's vital to repair the main board instead of chip-off) per default?

iPhone 3 or 3GS (not remember exactly) was the last device which not use encryption. All laters products use encryption, so chip-off doesn't make sense.
We get quite a lot of Macbooks to recover. You need fix the motherboard to get data back. At the beginning you need check if NANDS are not shorted, which is quite common at some models (than recovery will be not possible).
