Hi everyone,
I'm trying to recover a bricked WD Green 240GB SSD (model WDS240G360A-00BJG0). It stopped being detected by BIOS and operating systems. After researching, I found shorting two test points on the PCB brings it into what seems to be a factory/service mode.
After doing the short, the SSD is now detected over USB as:
Device Name: WD k Milpi External usb device
VID: 1058
PID: 0704
Firmware: 1.05
Using ChipGenius, it shows:
Controller: SanDisk 00672 256G
Device Type: Mass Storage
Protocol Version: USB 2.0
Current Speed: High Speed
At this point, I believe the device is in recovery or bootloader mode and is waiting for a firmware flash. However, I can't find any public version of SanDisk MPTool or other internal WD tools that can communicate with the device.
Does anyone have a working copy of SanDisk MPTool compatible with this controller or a way to flash firmware onto a "milpi" mode WD SSD?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m happy to test or provide more info if needed.
Thanks in advance!

https://community.frame.work/t/western- ... oard/20616but since it doesn't detect it will be useless. But you can try it.

Firmware should be 42077100 I think. But better check it.
