I am trying to find firmware for the following HGST model HUSMM8080ASS200
They are Dell/EMC branded drives. I have over 50 of them pulled from servers in inventory but the problem is they are all different firmware.
Now almost all the servers they were pulled from are 8 bay 2.5, so as long as all drives in those servers were the same firmware, it was fine. Now we would like to reuse them in 24bay servers and well I think you can see the problem.
I have the following firmware versions on the 50+ drives. C232, A217, A210, C228. I believe C232 was the last and newest firmware they made for these.
I have tried Dell support to get the file I need to make them all the same, and well, they were less then helpful with my request. I wasn't asking for their support (hands on with the problem) I was asking if they could point me in the direction of were to find the EMC firmware file for this model. I gave them the part number, and the Dell EMC part number etc and was told since I didn't have a support contract they wouldn't help me. Um the servers are 12-15 years old of course there isn't a contract, I am not asking you to fix the servers, I am asking where a firmware file maybe for drives that were sold to us in the servers we bought from you........
Ummm why do I need to pay for support to tell me where the firmware file might be so I can manually do all the work required to fix my issue. BTW if the drives die cause of the firmware file that is on me, I am the one doing the work. It should be a few taps on the keyboard on their side to get me the answer.
I have tried their website putting in various server models and/or drive chassis models to see if I could find what I needed but to no avail, so here I am on this forum asking for help.
Sorry got a bit wordy, I am just frustrated cause it shouldn't be this hard.

Um not really what I was looking for...
I am looking for anyone who may know or have knowledge of where I may find the Dell/EMC firmware file for these drives.

I believe C232 was the last and newest firmware they made for these.
In addition, for most models it is possible to "download the firmware" from your sample (if available) and upload it to the donor disk.
I don't know if this is possible in your case. Only E123 can answer that.

Is he or she on very often? Or do I need to figure out how to message them?

I suggest using the firmware that is present. I assume the disks are working but based on the comments it suggests the operating hours are brutal.
