Kingston NV2 PCIe 4.0NVMe M.2 2TB

I have a Kingston NV2 PCIe 4.0NVMe M.2 2TB (SNV2S/2000G).

While removing the heatsink from the SSD, I accidentally damaged the PCB. After that, the SSD stopped being detected.

It is now completely undetected — not in BIOS, Windows Device Manager, or Disk Management. I also tested it in another M.2 slot with the same result.

After carefully inspecting the PCB, I noticed several suspicious/damaged areas in the upper-left part of the board. There appear to be two small component locations/pairs of solder pads, and I am also unsure about one edge contact.

I would like to determine exactly what was damaged and whether the SSD can be repaired.

My questions:

What are these two small components/pads?

What should their values/specifications be?

Is the edge contact supposed to be there, or was it intentionally not populated?

Does anyone have a high-resolution photo of the exact same Kingston NV2 2TB PCB revision for comparison?

Could damage to these components/pads cause the SSD to become completely undetectable?

What power rails, voltages, or resistance measurements should I safely check with a multimeter before attempting any repair?

The data on the SSD is very important, so I don't want to solder or short anything without first knowing exactly what these components and pads are.

I have attached close-up photos of the damaged area.

I would really appreciate help from anyone experienced with NVMe SSD repair or data recovery.

Thank you!

I found photos of the Kingston NV2 SNV2S/2000G with a very similar PCB layout. Could you compare them with my board and check the positions of the two components I marked? I’m trying to determine the exact values of these two components.

The missing contact is a ground connection; it is redundant, so its absence can safely be ignored. The small, detached yellow component is likely a filter capacitor. This can also be ignored if it is not part of some power supply circuit, but rather a filter element. The slightly larger, detached gray component is a ferrite bead. Its absence is significant and is likely the reason the SSD isn't working. If absolutely necessary, you can replace it with a blob of solder, and the SSD should work. It is unlikely anyone can tell you the exact specifications of these components, as determining them would require an identical SSD, high-quality measuring equipment, and desoldering the parts for testing.

If you don't want to resort to a "hack job," you'll need to buy an identical (with the same board, but a smaller capacity, so it's not too expensive), preferably a faulty SSD, and take these parts from it.
