Not always and it isn't an indication of a short. Best to connect it up to a lab supply and get the actual current drawn and any pattern that is being produced at power on / initialisation.MISU wrote:In pc3k I powered SSD but all registers were glowing , typically it happens when pcb is faulty.

Unfortunately many end up like this. If the controller is getting hot rather than just warm from use that could be shorted - it's always worth swapping it with a donor if the device is otherwise unrecoverable, I'm not familiar with this particular drive so it may be serialised like the sandisks.MISU wrote:.
