If it's not time locked hard drives, it's russians that won't export, or that Acelabs that blackmail you.

Any emails i have directed at Ace have always been answered quickly and politely by well trained staff, and well informed sales team. Same goes for the guys at Deepspar, superb customer service.

Maybe many people have various expectations of what support should be like. For me, both ace and soft-center are good.

I used four different FLASH tool, but I think the best thing FE, from 2009 to now, I already have five sets of different versions of the FE tool. Use it, more than four years time, the successful recovery of thousands of different FLASH media. I got a great success, in fact, many of the FLASH tools, FE is the best kind of grasp. Their forum, there are many cases can refer to, but can also remotely assist Sergei, I also have the ACE FLASH tool, for several years, almost as decoration. It was not bad, but have become accustomed to FE mode of operation. If anybody using FE issues, I can provide some help.

Yes they do, really not that different than a normal recovery, just some fine soldering needed. Though there are some cases of what I'll call dynamic Xor where the xor seems to be based on, or seeded with the block number, or other attributes of the block. I need to learn more about it.

I'm recovering an Intel 320 SSD with a BAD_CTX firmware issue using PC3K Flash with PC3K UDMA. Unless I am missing something, I'm pretty sure that FE is unable to handle this or any other SSD.

As for support, SC wants you to upload the dumps for them to play with while Ace simply connects remotely and does the work right on your system and explains what they are doing, if you ask.

Don't get me wrong, I use both here. But, if I were an absolute rookie wanting the most user friendly tool that with support to help me get the most success, PC3K Flash is the winner.

FE can recover from some SSD's, though the support is probably not as large as PC3K Flash. Definitely wont work in tandem with a UDMA tool.
You can also get support from SC with TeamViewer, though focus is definitely on solving the case, not training, and the harder cases are layed aside when there is little time in favour of easier ones.
IMHO SC does an amazing job with the small team, but I agree with Luke, definitely not for beginners.

So, you just connect the SSD to the on-board SATA port? If so, how does FE communicate with the drive? Or are you referring to having to remove the chips, get dumps and brute force a recovery?

I haven't had enough SC success to make enough money to offset the costs of the annual support. So, until I learn to tame the beast on my own, I will only be paying PC3K for their support and updates moving forward. With it taking weeks to image the 160GB Intel SSD, I'm really wishing that I had a second PC3K Flash and a third PC3K UDMA or Express.

If you are serious about Flash recoveries, you should have both, IMHO. All I can say with certainty is that I'm glad that I didn't actually pay for my SD Flash.

Yes, the only way is remove chips and read them all. Not ideal I know.

Yes I agree, but the funds do not come streaming in when starting out, AND I did pay for my SD which was a real bummer considering how fantastic it is - nt.

re NR-Team - spoke to that guy once, and it looked like this flash business was just one of the side projects to him, so no surprize he's got bored and quit.
