software only solution out of stock? "Seems Legit..."

I think I would trust Northwind with recovery more than what I've seen so far, or has been alluded to.

So I took a look at Dolphin's solution and it looks like they only support two versions of SM2258XT, namely B16 and B17.
So what about other versions like HY16, IM3D, BICS, SNK1Z, HY3D etc?
This will be fun when someone tries to recover such drive with that tool :)

Thanks

I know why it's now out of stock. PM if you want to know more.

No

Our engineers have been specially developed and developed by our engineers

So the engineers have developed the development of themselves.

Seriously now, where is the exposed "trick" in that article?

UPDATE:

I was able to speed up the process of the recovery.
We can now recover a 240GB SM2258XT drive in about 60-70 hours or less, depending on the condition of the chips.
It used to take us about 6 days or so.

Nice, that's an impressive update. There are a lot of SSDs around with these controllers in them as well, so good for you, and good for your customers!

The future of DR on SSDs doesn't look fun with large ones now quite cheap. I just upgraded my oldest laptop (generation 7 i-7) with 3x SSDs : 1TB M.2, 1TB SATA in expansion and 1TB SATA in optical bay.

there were 2TB options but I don't need them as yet, but even if these size SSDs are "recoverable" the time factor, processing power of recovery machines and space needed is going to be quite a job to keep up with.

We have a solution as well. Not fully sure what revisions it can and cant support because ive only used it on maybe 4 drives but it indeed works. Theres actually two parts to it. You can either write back to a new ssd or with 2nd tool you can just extract to folder. We are in Florida if anyone need US help. Skype dbecfl

An update:

We were able to recover a couple of SM2259XT versions too. :)

By the way, if anyone wants to donate a few Intel 2258XT drives to us, let me know, we've started researching them but need donors.

Pending means that the corresponding sample has not been verified.
II. Updated Operating Procedures.
1、Backup_DumpImage Process:
Step 1: Plug the RMA force ROM into a SATA port and power supply.
Step2: Use the card rescue tool to scan the device and see the ROM mode status.
Step3. click Backup_DumpImage in the Data Recovery function page.
Step4: Tool prompt to load MPISP, please select the corresponding flash in the Tool and directory, and make sure the prompt window is not failing.
Step5: Tool prompts again for a load ROM debug MPISP, please select the corresponding flash in the Tool and directory, and make sure there is no fail in the prompt window.
Step6: Tool starts DumpImage flow.

2. recovery process.
Step 1: Find a 2258XT Good Sample with a larger capacity than an RMA Sample and plug it directly into a SATA port and power supply.
Step2: Use the save card Tool to scan to Device and see the ISP mode status (no DSP).Click Recovery on the Data Recovery function page.
Step4. hint to select the Image you want to Recovery, this file will be in Tool and directory under RecoveryMode\date\SN\Image, the file name is ImageInfo.
Step 5: Tool starts recovery flow

3. Reminder:
1) Avoid 2D/3D mixing, which may lead to the creation or misuse of DataBase, if you have experienced this, you can delete the DataBase in the following directory, and let Tool re-build it next time you load MPISP.
2) IM3D, B05, B16, B17 please use 3D, HYV4, SNDK, or TSB BICS2/3 please use 3D_BiCS, HY16/HY14 please use 2D.
3) Try to choose the Win7 platform as the rescue card, because there is a protocol bug in ROMDEBUGISP that is not solved, but it is only seen on AMD + Win10 at the moment.
4) Full support for SATA port or USB2SATA bridge.

  but where to find the utility for these descriptions?
Sorry I am a hillbilly from "exploding trees Austria".
Maybe you could help me out with some information where to find the software for this solutions.

This controller is now supported in PC-3000 Portable and will be supported by the Express/UDMA SSD add-on later this year.

I have the pc express and await the update that officially only the portable pc can do with official information from acelab. Who knows, data extraction may be faster.

I'm very curious to see how many versions of 2258XT PC-3000 supports.

I used it to recover a N05K93 rebranded SM2258XT controller from an ADATA Ultimate SU650 without a hitch.

Luke, how fast is it? Like, how much time did it take for a -relatively- healthy drive to image? Was it 120 or 240GB?

Re: SM2258XT data recovery now possible!

October 24th, 2020, 15:04

120GB...a couple minutes to load LDR and generate translator. Imaged up to about 2MB/sec.
