Size reduction (set max ) possible for USB pen drives ?

Not for all controllers have free utilities on the Internet.
And not for all types of NAND have binary code there.
It is easier to choose a flash drive for available utilities.

I have given pen drive by reducing size using diskpart. Even pen drive was getting detected as 2Gb in disk mangement.
But since customer is interfacing it with his automation equipment he wants actual technically 2GB (not logically as he is not reading it through PC)
Someone claiming manufacturer has ordered bare boards and nand chips from china and have assembled but there prototype pen drives failed to get detected in his automation equipment.
Since customer was serious I tried MPtools.

Customer is a industrial machines client and has enough money ,If i had this order i would have purchased a few drives and then selected what i could reduce and then given him a quote of pen drive plus my services ,When you work like a miser in india ,They treat you like one ,Think About It ..

Being a value market remuneration is low in india so there is capex limitations. Besides technology is so fastly moving , you must get ROI first before investing further, Those well organized and bigger players might be able to do this easily , but smaller players might not be able to do.

I am making steady progress in flash work.
I have only3 queries -
1) What should be minimum and maximum capacity I should choose - I want to reduce size of pen drive to 2Gb so is it OK to choose min /max 2000MB ?
2) Instead of low level format is it ok to choose high level format ? What is technial difference between them
3) I have not changed any other settings but might change custom serial No and USB vendor ID as per customers requirements.
Is there any additional settings I should choose ?

You are doing the complete refubrishen process.
The old table of defective blocks is erased and a new one is built based on the scan.
I would not change the default settings, except for the size and labels.
If you are worried about time - you have more than one USB ...
You set the required size in MAX, in MIN you save 1 less, for example.

Whether this will change the size - I do not know, I have not tried it.

Thanks . MP tool is an advanced manufacturer level tool suitable for large OEM's typically. It has most powerful settings like limiting current /write protect /ECC etc.
Unless you have thorough knowledge its wiser not to touch anything.
Since I am just reducing size and actually not refurbishing like bad sector removal etc , high level format might be enough ,I will check both ways.
Regarding minimum capacity do you mean 1MB? or 1999MB ?

OK Thanks . I have completed lot of first 100 out of 400 pen drives. Aprox 10 brand new pen drives failed giving bad blocks error though program managed to reduce (refurbish) it to lower value.
It seems Nand used is of low grade or due to ageing its degraded.
I also learnt that why Nand chip is also important in flash related work (often I see besides controller nand chip id was also mentioned.
I was wondering since controller uses wear levelling algoritham if controler is known or supported then why nand is needed
But now I realised that block design of each nand is differnt. So same controller may write differently on different nand chip I think.
Though this all exercise seems to be non professional non high tech ( since version available is from unknown sources and may not be actual updated proper version )
