Ok here is my story. Have a user that has extremely important data from a Lexar Firefly 2gb usb stick. The stick was broken and part of the circuit bard also broke. It has a Samsung K9GAG08U0M 2gb flash and a SM324QF controller on that board.

What I tried was to buy the exact usb stick and swap out the flash chip. Unfortunately at some point lexar switched from Samsung to Hynix flash's and changed to a SM321QF controller. I still tried the swap but it would not read the flash. Would the different controller cause this? I had thought about moving the SM324qf over to the working board but was afraid that I would short something out. Any chance that could work.

Otherwise I am looking for someone in the US that can take care of this for me asap. I have checked out Ace Labs pc3000 flash, but i'd imagine it is extremely expensive. All responses appreciated!!

if i cant find a good place in the US, i would definitely consider sending it to you! Are you confident you could recover the data from it?

I am going to see if i can hunt down the identical usb stick with a samsung flash and sm324qf , but i dont know if that will pan out.

As far as that ace labs pc3000 flash equipment, does anyone know a ballpark price for it? and if its fairly straightforward to use? I see that it supports the samsung chip I have and the sm324qf controller.

Assuming the actual flash chip isn't bad, then I'm pretty confident (90%+) of getting the data back ;-)

Thanks for the replies pcimage, Last night I got lucky and bought a Lexar Firefly 2gb stick with the same Samsung flash and the SM324QF. Replaced Samsung chip with the one from my broken board and was able to access and copy all the data off of it. Such a relief!

1. Other categories you buy a 2GB USB controller chip on the condition that the number UT163 USB (using the program ChipGenius 3.01) to test the controller chip on it that when you add USB to your computer.
2. You split it out from the USB components inside, including 01 on the memory chip, hard to use computer memory chips peeled from the USB and then you close your USB memory chip that (small closed chip to be careful if foot touches the memory chip will be dead)
3. Run recovery program from USB to save your data (if USB is not removed before you can save the day without having to program)
