Hello.
I have been advised by Kingston that I need to re-format my 1GB Data Traveller.
It locks up word on my vista 32bit os.
I have downloaded the following from this site -HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool 2.00.006 Rev.B SP27213.exe
This is new to me and I do not fully understand what I have to do.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Art Keetra

You should be able to format the device via My Computer by right-clicking on the volume and selecting FORMAT. I am assuming this format tool you have downloaded is low level formatting (LLF), basically a more secure method of formatting.

Be sure to back up any information you need first,

Thank you for your reply, it is much appreciated.
It was the LLF tool downloaded.
I also contacted Kingston and they gave me similar info.
I tried the system tool as well but unfortunately there is a process running which blocks the re-formatting. Have looked at the task manager to see which processes are running with the DT but I can see nothing that I recognise. So re-formatting is still a no go.
I will try the DT on another system to make a comparison.
Thanks once again

Another system should not give you a problem.

Unless your device has a virus which is activated on insertion to the computer, this would create a running process that may lock it from being formatted?
