hi all
i have a sd 1gb card in for recovery.
when plugged into a card reader system hands and then does not identify the card.
using any of my regulat programs such as r studio etc will not detect the card, infact applications wont even launch when card is in card reader.

using winhex to ry and clone the card it wont detect the card either.

i am thinking of getting a Sd to CF adaptor and then using this along with the pc3000 Cf adaptor to see what can be done, just wondering if anyone else as tried this method? or any other method which may help here.

you'll need the reader from soft-center or ace to solve this one; or you could find exactly the same card and transplant the memory-chip.

It's usefull to work with PC3K CF adapter and PC3K UDMA in such case because in this card you have nonworking controller.
Soft-Center won't work in this case, also PC3K Flash still cannot crack Sandisk. Give up this case. Or send it to ACE maybe they can solve it!

looking at some threads here it seems that these cards are pretty near impossible to fix

Sandisk not impossible if...

1. Flash nand device is not monolithic
2. Not encrypted.

You may be lucky if it's a fairly early 1Gb device, and it's not using a self encrypting controller.

I've done quite a few and had more luck with Sandisk SD and CF than with USB sticks.

Sorry, I meant USELESS, not useful.

Does anyone here have success with newer sandisk devices, like the Cruzer usb sticks? I recieve several of these a month and do not know of any solution.

Hi I had a look. There is no memory chip as it appears that there is a tiny pcb with a mold on it which is encasing the entire board. Will post a picture tomorrow. May need to look into one of those tools. Any opinions about which is the better one.
