February 24th, 2010, 20:39

ok got my sisters pen here and she wants some photos recovering

im checked the main board out and it look like the controller chip is at faulty
as there no signal at all.
what i need to know is the following

does this controller chip store any information on the files in the memory.

and is it possible to swap over the controller chip from a known good one

any help on this would be great

controller chip is TC58NC2233G6F TOSHIBA

No, the controller chip doesn't store any file information as such.

It "is" possible to swap the controller chip over but you gotta get lucky and get the EXACT same chip (i.e. ALL the numbers on it), and then that's only assuming it is a contoller fault and not the flash memory or the oscillator.

If ur willing to spend a few $, then I suggest you contact "starling" on this forum, he's in Canada.

hi the oscillator is running fine

but there no data from the controller chip at all.

that total sucks that you have to match the right chip up :(
