how to scan/locate writable(eeprom or flash) chip on a pc

Hello every one.

any body knows that how to scan for and locate writeable chip on on pc mainboard
or maybe deeper for ex on pci or pcie?
I put this here because the the interface is very similar to that of flash memory .

btw: Im not familier with the subject so any hint or direction to start with is appreciated.

UniFlash is a universal BIOS flasher that is also able to flash some PCI Option ROMs, eg NICs. The source code is avaliable for free download.
