128GB USB stick just shows 8MB

Are there any tools to "reprogram" a USB memory stick to its originally size? My 128GB stick just seem to be 8MB.

128Gb?

Did you get this from ebay by any chance? China? Was it cheap?

If so, then chances are it's a fake device.

If not, then you've probably got a controller or nand failure, and you'll need to RMA it.

Yes, it was cheap, $60 and it was bought on EBAY. It was called "128GB New Leather Flash Memory Pen Stick Thumb Drive" and was labeled "Made in Japan". You may find this one and many more on EBAY and they are sold by people who doesn't know better and bought by people who is fooled like me  . They think because it says 127GB free in windows it is a true value and i took a chance.

I just want to see if there is any tool to manipulate the registers in the controller in the stick to set the size to whatever it should be. I assume all those have a size like 1 or 2GB.

You can use H2testw to check size of memory. You can check signature directly on memory chip too.
Use Chipgenius to determine controller and then find correct program to reformat pen on http://www.flashboot.ru/

If u determine the correct capacity and create a partition that fits that capacity, u can use it as a smaller pendrive.
