| Post subject: | Sony memory stick pro hg data recovery help :((( |
I am having issues with a 8gb Sony memory stick pro hg. It was inside my camera until yesterday, when I came back from vacation and was working fine. I took out the memory card, put it inside my laptop card reader, it showed up as a drive, but when I tried opening it, it said "Please insert disk in volume E:". I then put it back inside the camera, and it did not recognize it (red LED, saying "accessing memory" and sitting there forever). Tried it on another PC with a card reader - same problem. I tried using Ontrack easyrecovery pro, but it won't even recognize it as a mass storage device (it recognizes other flash drives ok). It is burnt? Is there any way of recovering my data? What would be my best way to go? Willing to go the "flash extractor" way if you think it will help. Please help thank you! |

Honestly if you are ready to "go the flash extractor way", then your data must be fairly important. Instead of risking it, get a pro to recover the data. If you still want to try yourself and don't mind risking your data, maybe take a look at CnW Recovery. It has a wizard specifically for flash cards. They also have a 30 day license for only $20 for someone who just has to use it once. |

well, my Egypt vacation pics and videos are on it so you think data is recoverable? How much do you think it will cost and who will be reliable to trust my memories upon? pcimage, Samo is a guy who lives in Bulgaria? thanks |

@kevinlawrence12: kevinlawrence12 wrote: There are various data recovery and photo recovery software available on the Internet. download one of them and easily recover your Sony memory stick data easily. easily?! The software-only solution which you suggest, doesn't work in all cases - and normally will not work, if the OS totally fails to recognise that a card has been inserted (as is true in this 6 month-old thread which you've replied to). Notice that the OP already tried some software available on the internet - and it didn't work! |

kevinlawrence12 wrote:  There are various data recovery and photo recovery software available on the Internet. download one of them and easily recover your Sony memory stick data easily. There is not a lot of simple and easy options in Data Recovery, software recovery is often only possible after some kind of physical repair. In this case, the chip should be removed (assuming it has one) and raw dump taken before internal algorithms and assembler configurations used to determine how the information is recorded can be identified. This is far from simple. The best option here is, as suggested by Pcimage, contact Samo who can help, or at the very least confirm the actual fault or faults. |
