It's not detected in any media reader.
Is there anything i can try to read the stick?
I've attempted photorec/testdisk but it does not detect the media. I have used OSx/Win7/XP/Linux and nothing
detects the media. (3 different media readers).
Does anyone have info on opening one of these properly and or troubleshooting them further?

As far as opening, just have to carefully crack it open and run further advanced tests on the chip components. If can not figure out what has failed, post pictures here.

http://imgur.com/a/s4YyUI'm assuming the controller is bad. I got it to read using testdisk/photorec. It only shows "read error" continually even when manually setting size/lba etc.
any advice?

Have to get some sort of NAND flash reader and get a dump of the chip, followed by applying some sort of algorithm to make sense of the data from the dump.
You will need the equipment (expensive) and licenses for that equipment.
Suggest sending it to a DR pro if really want to recover the data.

These cases with Samsung controller can be quite difficult even for professional with much experience.
I'm afraid the only option you have is to get it looked at by a professional DR company.
