I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I am posting a topic already discussed or not doing something else correctly.
I knowingly purchased an inexpensive Kingston 256GB DT310 flash drive for the purpose of testing and discovering how flash memory works when its discovered to be fake. I'm an IT consultant but this is a new area my company wants to gain some knowledge in.
I've walked through several online articles and ran many tests, including the HDD Low Level Format tool suggested on this forum, only to come down to a problem I haven't seen before. While running the "HDD Low..." tool it reports a "Format Error occurred at offset..." on every line of the test.
The memory drive chipset reads FCB708-1, CADA00-111, 1105TR3 with no Chip Name or manufacture. The other side of the chip has a big black silicon thing with no markings.
The drive is write protected and I have been unable to make any ground on fixing, changing or getting the drive to identify its true configuration as I have read others have been able to. Remember I knowingly purchased this to learn and I've learned somethings new but want to know more. Anyone willing to help?
