 Post subject: PQI 8gb cant reformat

i have this USB its 8gb and i cant format, it says write protect and i try to format the 8gb at Windows xp partition mode nothing happen.. while my other usb 2gb PQI U230 even got the same problem but sometimes i can reformat..i try other solution but all failed even i edit at regedit policy

i just want to reformat the 8gb and use to back-up my files....

Courious that you say you've had the same problem with other usb pen drives on the same pc.
Firstly id be looking more at the pc/os
If it was just the one usb pen with issues then yes it could be faulty.
Try using a different pc to format the usb pen if it works then you know the issue is your pc/os.

For an 8GB flash drive, why waste your time and effort, just buy a new flash drive.

I'm actually more surprised that it got to 1.1GB before failing.
I "guess" you could always try partitioning around the bad area, but like I said 8GB flash drives are dirt cheap.
