Hello everyone, I did a low-level formatting to a SanDisk 8 GB flash memory using the free HDD Low Level Format Tool 4.25. Then I gave format to it using Windows Explorer. The memory seemed to work normally and every time I connected it to my laptop it was recognized by Windows.
The problem is the following: My antivirus license expired, so I used a Kaspersky Rescue Disk run from another flash memory to analyze my laptop and every usb memory I connected. When I turn on my laptop and go to the boot menu of the BIOS, the flash memory that I low-level formatted doesn't appear, and neither when I start the Kaspersky Rescue Disk. It is recognized until Windows starts normally from the hard disk.

What can I do?

As this is not a data recovery issue I would suggest you use google & search for "how to make a usb pen drive bootable"
Also search BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 & BIOS Boot order

Hello Loki, I don't want to boot from the pen drive that has the problem. I run Kaspersky Rescue Disk from another pen drive. The thing is that when I want to analize a flash memory for viruses, I connect it when the laptop is turned off, then I turn it on, start the rescue disk and select the pen drives that I want to analyze.
The pen drive that has the problem doesn't appear in the boot menu and neither in the list of devices of Kaspersky Rescue Disk. This flash memory is only recognized when Windows starts normally from my hard drive, therefore I can't analyze it with the rescue disk.

Ok that makes more sense but it's still not data recovery related which is what this forum is about & for.

You say your antivirus license has expired, then why not just uninstall it & install Microsoft Security Essentials which is free? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/wind ... essentials
Then just update the defs & run a custom scan on the usb pen drive?

Their are also other antivirus software like trial versions & AVG is free.
