Hello,
I dropped my Sony laptop with a 512 gb Solid State Drive and am having a hard time finding an enclosure or some type of work around that will allow me to recovery my data. My last backup was probably three months ago and really need some of the more recent data. I attached two photos. One shows the connector which appears to me to have a 20 pin connector. I have spent the last week looking for something, but have not been successful. The part number is mzrpc256hadr-000so
Any help will be great appreciated.
Thank you,

The laptop itself, is it damaged?
What does it do when powered on?

Once I picked up the pieces it did nothing when I turned the power on.

Hi,
You might have luck taking to a computer shop the whole thing, or fixing the laptop. lots of times it isn't as bad as you first think.
also, if it powers but no screen, try connecting to a monitor on the external display.
otherwise something like this adapter may help you

I'm pretty sure that this is a lot more complex than you think. I haven't researched it and am not 100% sure, but am 98% sure that this is two 256GB SSDs in RAID 0 on the same backplane, using the single cable. As such, I don't believe that you are going to have any luck finding an adapter.
Option 1 - Buy another laptop of the same model, switch the drives and hope it works.
Option 2 - Get your laptop fixed
Option 3 - Pay someone to recover the data, knowing that they likely will have to do Option 1 for you at a price higher than the cost of the necessary laptop needed to do the job
Good luck,
Luke

Yes, it looks similar. Probably drive work as RAID0 2x256MB.

You received good suggestions.
The best as in cheapest and least complicated way to recover is to fix the laptop (seems to kind of suck in your situation, though I am not sure "it does nothing" means), find another laptop (this can be difficult as they are fairly rare, but you may get lucky at a recycling place, tech friends, computer shops, etc.) or follow the thread suggest.
Not recommended, but if go on an and attempt what it is in the thread, I strongly suggest you buy some extra cables to have in case there is a screw up.
As already suggested, the best recommendation is to go to a specialist, a very good one. Make sure they know what they are doing.

swanndl,
I have the same drive and the same problem. Motherboard on my Zseries Sony Vaio died and I just want to get the data off the Solid State Drive. I tried to buy a used version of the same laptop so I could just swap the drives out, but I have been unable to find one. How did you finally resolve your problem?
Thanks

I have recovered quite a few of these...
You guys are right it is an SSD raid 0 ... 2 SSDs per PCB(1 each side)
some Z series come fitted with 2 units making a 4 disk Raid 0
I have made up an interface jig..
Basically if the laptop is dead or can not be used for the process, (ie lots of bad sectors)
then the jig must be used.. I image them 1 at a time and then rebuild the raid accordingly from disk images.
If the SSD is really bad then connect the jig to your DE or credible Disk imager.

Hey guys, my SSD died in my vaio z2 but aside from that, it still works from external media. I'm wondering if anyone is selling their SSD? id gladly take an image for you and send your files back to you in return.

I have a second SSD that has no files other than operating system on it. I was able to find a replacement system and move the SSD from my dead system to the replacement system. If you want to buy the SSD from the replacement system, PM me.
