Does my SSD have a problem?

My PC failed to load, not even bringing up the BIOS so I started to check things out.
My first thought was that it may have been caused by one of the fans not working, so I have another one on order just in case that is the problem.
Next I decided to check out the drives. I took my two data drives out of the PC and put them into a docking station that is connected to my Laptop via USB and they worked perfectly.
I then put my Corsair Force GS 240GB SATA 3 SSD drive into the docking station but the laptop failed to recognise the drive.
So, the question is, should the HDD Docking Station that is connected via USB be able to recognised the SATA 3 SSD, or is it likely the SSD is dead?
