Accidentally formattet SSD containing NTFS partition to ext4

May 27th, 2014, 22:57

Hi, I friend of mine accidentally formattet his SSD disk which containing a NTFS partition and changed the new file system to ext4

He said he didn't use any low level formatting techniques and the formatting process finished quickly.

I got an image of the entire disk created with TestDisk which I has been messing around with using various data recovery tools.

However, no one have been able to return ANY files.

I this case i opened the .dd file with R-Studio and ran the scan process, and it only see an ext4 file system with only lost+found folder
Image

I do not have much experience with data recovery at all

Try to image the SSD disk with r-studio, not with testdisk.
Then work with r-studio image, if you still don't see any folders inside the image try to build regions in r-studio (if you know how)
