Samsung Acknowledges the SSD 840 EVO Read Performance Bug - Fix Is on the Way

http://www.anandtech.com/show/8550/sams ... on-the-way

Looks like a pretty serious bug if the root cause is what I think.

I just got off the phone with Samsung and the good news is that they are aware of the problem and have presumably found the source of it.

I would be careful to label this as Samsung acknowledging anything. I have been told numerous things from different vendor support centers, only to have it denied or contradicted next call. It is a latge omission to not say what role this Samsung employee had.. Media, support, friend etc

The article write doesn't say who he spoke to or in what capacity Samsung said this... and the word "presumeably" is a red flag as well. There is no measure how much of the article is conjecture or fact, so w have to wait and see what happens.

It can happen with seemingly dumb, simple things such as testing like crazy, then when going into production the NAND chip gets supplied that is slightly different, maybe a revision later with tiny timing differences or other subtleties... or they tested for less than a month ;)
