Thanks a bunch for your reply on my questions. Your input is valuable as I am also in the process of searching more about drive faults in those Samsung SSDs.

Despite all of that, I don't have any additional good advice toward fixing your drive, though I believe that there likely isn't a permanent solid fix at this time. Needless to say, even if you were to somehow fix it, I think chances are it won't last long until further problems surface.

I would say, consider the drive's situation lucky in the sense that user data is still accessible and although the drive freezes at times, you can at least power cycle it and image it and pull the data off. Then RMA the sucker and be away with it. I have encountered much worse complex situations and really causes quite a bit of hair loss due to so much scratching.

Regards

:? :? :?

The OP's drive is an SK Hynix mSATA model. It is not a Samsung SSD 840 Pro.

*facepalm*

What an embarrasing situation. I was looking at the Samsung 840-box on my desk when I started the thread.

You're right, ofcourse.

Honestly, I did not pay as much attention to the drive in the pic as much as I did to bos's posts. I was/have been heavily consumed with an 840 Pro of my own that kind of blind sided me.

On that note, Hynix is often known to be problematic, though not sure if in that specific package or drive.
