Seagate 1TB External HD, beeping & not recognised

December 18th, 2014, 5:40

Hello,

Yesterday my Seagate External harddrive "fell" from my laptop on to my desk. A full 1,5 cm "drop". Suddenly the hardisk started making a tikking sound.
So I rebooted. No everytime I plug it in, it starts beeping first and then the LED start to blink. It is not recognised by the computer.
I have tried using Seatools but it does not recognise the harddisk.

Anyone has any tips on what to do? Or better yet, how to fix :-)

In this video you find a Guy with the same issue... If you guys need a better video I will make it.

Thank you very much in advanced!

Ciao

search "head stiction"

you should send it to DR company if data is important, because DIY has its cons and pros especially for a dropped disk.

since you are in Nederland and i think Seagate Service is also available there, if your drive is under warranty you may also get replacement disk along with the data (sure you have to pay the recovery charges).

good luck

Hello!

If your drive is 3.5 then i am quite sure your problem is stuck motor. In general is what happens. Now if your drive is from the smaller family , 2,5, then most probably we have a case of head stiction.

Good luck
