TOSHIBA 256GB SSD-DATARECOVERY SOLUTION

Hi,all

i am facing Toshiba 256GB ssd issues like Dead or Not Detected anywhere.as per my guess Toshiba Controller/associated components as per attached picture Can be faulty?if the problem with memory chips it will detect at least Controller?anybody having Data Sheet for same SSD or Controller itself to detailed analysis.

It is Sandforce controller (rebranded by Toshiba) as pcimage write above. No solution so far.

In almost all cases, Flash Chips are "married" to the controller. Meaning once the unit is put together, mass production tools will look at the flash chips and information about them will be configured in the firmware. Things such as timing, bad blocks etc. Simply being the exact same parts is not enough. There are a lot of different ways flash and controller chips are setup to become a storage device, and I doubt there would be many cases where a controller could be switched out.

Hi guys,

I also remember that on Prague conference it was spoken that "maybe this year, maybe next". Nobody promised that it would be in next release. SandForce controllers have AES encryption of techno-key and microcode so I think it's a big challenge to hack it.

AFAIR in next release PC3K developers promise to add OCZ Vertex 450 drives on Barefoot 3 CPU, and Corsair Neureton drives.

Never heard of "ZCopy Ultra" before this article. Anyone know what that is exactly?

from what I can gather it is their in house tool. Along with custom nand boards apparently.

for some reason this "story" is plastered around the web, but does little to say what types of issues are actually fixed.

could be a case of a mechanic workshop saying they now have the capability to work on the latest 2015 Ferraris and Lamborghinis, and saying they have already fixed 10 this year... but when you investigate, find out they changed 4 tyres, 3 indicator globes and refilled the wiper tanks.

Does the information below apply only to SSDs ? I used to believe that Controllers for Flash Drives (not for SSDs) can be replaced by exact match ones as long as the original controller did not use dynamic XOR. Am I missing something here ?

No Matiw, mostly applies to flash drives as well.
